Sean Tully is an artist and surfer living and working in Ventura, California.
Sean obtained a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from California Institute of the Arts (CalArts) in 2010. His art practice emphasizes an exchange between the intentional and unintentional. The work is often emotionally charged, engaging influence from various side cultures, perceptions of artistic nostalgia and ubiquitous life experiences shared by all. Current paintings reflect a more assertive approach to figurative abstraction with bold color and occasional references from his everyday life.
A second-generation surfer with regard to traditional surfing aesthetic, Sean surfed professionally and has been featured in various international publications. His ocean-related and art residency travels have found him across Europe, Central America, South America, Asia, and Australia. Relationships with noted surf photographers and lasting friendships from previous travels have allowed Sean to maintain a consistent presence within his local surf community as well as abroad.
